Born in a pandemic, perfected by family and loved everywhere. A farmers market favorite, Dimepiece is the spice you never knew you needed. An Italian-inspired, smokey rub that goes good on everything!

Family Roots

As a full-time musician, the spring of 2020 was a rough one. Within one week, all of my gigs were canceled. I was out of work and I was at home, on the grill, trying to figure out my next move.

One day I made some pork ribs with a homemade seasoning that I threw together on the fly. Everyone in the house agreed that they were the best ribs they’d ever had. My daughter, Jacelle, randomly said “Dad, you could sell this!”. VoilĂ ! That was the moment I found my new mission. We were going into the spice business. The only problem being, I didn’t exactly know what what random spices and measurements I used. So, as a family, we spent the next week trying to recreate that taste. We ate a lot of ribs that week, documenting measurements and tweaking the recipe to find that magic combination.

Off to the Market

Going in to the summer of 2020 with our new mission in mind was a busy and exciting time. Now that we had the official recipe for Dimepiece, we had to scale it to bulk, design labels, package it and figure out the best way to bring it to the public. Our town, Gresham, OR, has one of the best farmers markets in the Pacific Northwest so we started there.

We knew we had a good product with nice packaging, but outside of letting everyone smell the spice, they had no idea how amazing it was. That’s when we decided to offer samples. We grilled flank steaks, cut them into bite sized pieces and offered samples to everyone who passed our booth. That was it. Every week after that we sold out, and the rest, as they say, is history.
